Breeder profession guide Unity 3.5: detailed chapter-by-chapter version
This guide follows a strict breeding logic: capture, sort, fill key gauges, make mounts fertile, breed, then exploit outcomes (cloning, extraction, generation progression, rewards). The objective is an operational, numbers-driven gameplay reference.
Community guide for informational purposes. This content is not affiliated with Ankama Games.
You will find the core breeding 3.5 mechanics here with reference values: serenity thresholds, gauge tiers, drain durations, target-generation formula, cloning rules, mount XP and dedicated Almanax bonuses.
For family trees and crossbreeding, this hub links to dedicated guides: Dragoturkeys, Muldos and Volkornes.

Dafous tools for breeding
What advanced breeders do
Advanced breeders run their sessions like a factory: full paddocks, strict gauge rotation, target generation tracking, and exploiting breeding Almanax windows.
Why this hub exists
Breeder info is dense and scattered across captures, paddocks, genealogies and achievement goals. This guide brings all the useful mechanics into one readable flow: what you need to do, in what order, with what numbers and priorities.
I. Introduction to breeding
Breeding in 3.5 relies on managing a stock of mounts and their gauges: serenity, stamina, maturity, love and experience. A mount can be equipped directly, but its breeding value depends on its status (fertile/ready-to-breed/sterile/senile), its level, its ability and its genealogy.
3.5 key changes: mounts no longer gain XP from combat (passive XP in paddocks), mount energy and fatigue no longer exist, and breeding is now managed through paddock gauges/fuels.
Useful mount benchmarks: level 1 to 200 (slower progression after 100), e.g. Muldo Doré 100 = 1 MP + 50 power, Muldo Doré 200 = 1 MP + 70 power. Common bonuses by type: Dragoturkey (vitality, e.g. 300 at level 100 then 400 at level 200), Muldo (1 MP from level 100), Volkorne (1 AP from level 100).
II. The breeder profession
Major unlocks
The breeder profession unlocks the full infrastructure (nets, fuels, makinas, paddock access). Scaling is progressive: the higher your level, the faster you can fill gauges and capture more mounts per fight.
| Profession level | Unlock | Gameplay details |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Universal net + beginner paddock | Full system start |
| 40 / 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 | Paddocks 2 to 6 | Up to 6 paddocks x 10 slots = 60 mounts at once |
| 100 / 150 / 200 | Multiplicateur / Renforcé / Multiplicateur Renforcé nets | Single capture, duplication, AoE, AoE+duplication |
| 5 / 55 / 105 / 155 | Extracts / philtres / potions / elixirs | Access to gauge tiers 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 |
Ways to earn profession XP
- Crafts: standard profession behavior, with diminishing returns if recipes are too low level.
- Breeding: 10 profession XP per generation per parent mount.
- Captures: 30 profession XP per captured mount.
Example: breeding two generation 8 mounts gives 160 profession XP (8 x 10 x 2).
III. Capturing a wild mount
Capture zones by family
- Dragoturkey: Wild Dragoturkey territories (Koalak Mountain).
- Muldo: Muldo Basin (north of Sufokia).
- Volkorne: Brâkmar Stud Farm (south of Brâkmar).
Muldo access: via Bandit Territory [15,19] (boat), via Sufokia [22,19] (ladder), or via the Sufokia breeder workshop [19,23] (diving suit). In practice, available wild packs per type are small (often 3 to 5 mounts), and wild Muldos/Volkornes are treated as level 60 monsters.
Nets and the taming spell
There are 4 net families (and 10 nets total including type variants):
| Net | Profession level | Spell effect | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Universal net | 1+ | Captures the target | Shared across all types |
| Multiplicateur net | 100+ | Capture + duplication | Duplication doesn’t guarantee the same gender |
| Renforcé net | 150+ | AoE capture (circle radius 3) | Very useful on dense packs |
| Multiplicateur Renforcé net | 200 | Radius 3 AoE + duplication | Most productive version |
By equipping a net as a combat consumable, you get the temporary spell Mount Taming: up to 7 range, no line of sight needed, costs 1 AP, 1 cast per fight.
How to capture a mount?
- Equip the net matching the target type.
- Start the fight.
- Cast the taming spell on your targets (capture state lasts until end of fight).
- Finish the fight: marked targets are captured.
IV. Paddocks & breeding interface overview
The paddocks
Usable paddocks are in the Breeder Village (area left of the zaap [-16,1]). Each paddock has 10 account-bound slots, with a maximum of 6 paddocks.
| Paddock | Coordinates | Required profession level |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner | [-18,0] | 1 |
| Novice | [-19,0] | 40 |
| Apprentice | [-20,0] | 80 |
| Initiated | [-20,2] | 120 |
| Veteran | [-19,2] | 160 |
| Master | [-18,2] | 200 |
Around the paddocks: workshop at [-20,1], creature marketplace at [-19,1], NPCs at [-18,1] (Adèle Vage for breeding dust, Eugène Éton for génétons). A Breeder Village teleportation potion (alchemist 60+) teleports to [-18,1] with recipe: 2 Poisson-Chaton, 2 Avoine, 2 Menthe sauvage. Each paddock map also has a zaapi for quick rotations.
The breeding interface
Accessible via the Breeding button (shortcut D), viewable from anywhere. Remote actions available: recharge fuel, change active gauges, move mounts between inventory and stable, breed/extract/clone. Limitation: to put/remove a mount from a paddock, you need to be on that paddock’s map.
The stable can hold up to 250 mounts. The right panel is interchangeable (paddock, breeding, cloning, extraction). Left-side filters allow quick sorting by needs.
Mount tooltip
The tooltip shows: identity (type/colors/gender/level/generation), gauges, fertility, special ability, equipment effects, genealogy (parents and grandparents only).
- Fertile: can breed after filling gauges.
- Ready to breed: can breed immediately.
- Sterile: can’t breed but can be cloned.
- Senile: can’t breed and can’t be cloned.
V. Raising & breeding a mount
Paddock gauges
You can activate a max of 2 gauges at the same time in a paddock. The 6 gauges are: feeding trough, water trough, baffeur, caresseur, foudroyeur and dragofesse. Max gauge capacity: 100,000, split into 4 tiers.
| Tier | Range | Drain / 10s | Mount gain / 10s | Drain time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0 → 40 000 | 10 | 10 | 11 h 06 |
| 2 | 40 001 → 70 000 | 20 | 20 | 4 h 09 |
| 3 | 70 001 → 90 000 | 30 | 30 | 1 h 51 |
| 4 | 90 001 → 100 000 | 40 | 40 | 42 min |
Total drain time for a full gauge: 17h48. Fuels follow profession tiers (extracts/philtres/potions/elixirs) and come in tiny, small, normal, large, gigantic (1,000 to 5,000 durability).
Fuels and breeding dust (key data)
Gauge cap: 100,000. Fuels max out by category: extract up to 40,000, philtre up to 70,000, potion up to 90,000, elixir up to 100,000.
- 3.4 compensation: 0.55 breeding dust per remaining durability (rounded up).
- NPC Adèle Vage [-18,1]: Gigantic Extract 50 dust, Philtre 200, Potion 800, Elixir 3200.
- Profession progression: a tiny/small/normal/large/gigantic variant unlocks every 10 breeder levels.
- Usage: you can use fuels bought from the marketplace even if your profession level doesn’t allow crafting them yet.
- Reminder: a higher-tier fuel can fill lower tiers.
Making a mount fertile
A mount becomes ready to breed when its stamina, maturity and love gauges are all maxed (20,000 each).
- Serenity -5,000 to -1: stamina rises.
- Serenity -2,000 to 2,000: maturity rises.
- Serenity 0 to 5,000: love rises.
Sweet spot: between -2,000 and 2,000, you can raise two gauges at once (maturity+stamina on the negative side, maturity+love on the positive side).
Breeding a mount
- Two ready-to-breed mounts, same type, opposite genders.
- Both mounts must be placed in the stable via the breeding interface (not directly from inventory/paddock).
- Birth is instant (no more gestation).
- Standard result: 1 baby; 2 only with Reproducteur ability.
- After breeding, both parents become sterile.
- The baby is level 1, gauges at 0, random gender.
Genealogy
Color probabilities depend on parents and grandparents. Parents have more influence than grandparents. The breeding interface directly shows final probabilities based on the tree. In 3.5, genetic collision no longer exists for Muldos and Volkornes.
Target generation
The target generation is the highest generation achievable through breeding (accounting for genealogy). Base bonus: +30% chance of hitting the target, then split among target possibilities if there are multiple.
Example: two level 200 parents = +60%, so 90%; with Optimakina = 100%.
Detailed example: parent A level 200 + parent B level 1 = level bonus of 30.15%. Without Optimakina: 30% + 30.15% = 60.15%. With Optimakina: 70.15%. The remainder (29.85%) is split among other outcomes based on genealogy.
If multiple mounts belong to the target generation, the target share is split: with 30.30% target share and 2 target outcomes, you get 15.15% per outcome in a strictly equal split (genealogy may however weight them differently).
Dofus breeding genetics calculator
Chance per generation: 40.30 %
Final chance to reach target generation: 40.30 %
V. Supplement: mount cloning
After breeding, parents are sterile. Cloning is the mechanic that lets you recover a fertile mount from two mounts of the same type and same generation.
- Both mounts used in cloning are destroyed.
- You get back a fertile mount (one of the two), with the same gender and family tree.
- Its gauges (serenity, maturity, stamina, love) are reset.
- Any special ability is lost.
VI. Leveling a mount to 200
Mount XP is gained passively through the feeding trough gauge in paddocks. Even at profession level 1, the beginner paddock lets you start gaining XP.
XP speed by feeding trough tier
- Tier 1: 10 every 10 seconds (1 XP/s).
- Tier 2: 20 every 10 seconds (2 XP/s).
- Tier 3: 30 every 10 seconds (3 XP/s).
- Tier 4: 40 every 10 seconds (4 XP/s).
Key numbers (source data)
- Level 100: 172,668 XP.
- Level 200: 867,582 XP.
- Tier 4 sustained: ~12h to level 100, ~60h24 to level 200.
- Tier 2 sustained: ~24h to level 100, ~120h50 to level 200.
- Real-world estimate: 100 to 150 hours to reach 200 in practice.
Reminder: the Sage ability doubles mount XP gain. If an active gauge isn’t used by any mount, it won’t drain.
VII. Makinas & special abilities
- Animakina: random ability (Amoureuse, Endurante, Précoce, Sage, Reproducteur).
- Kromakina: Caméléone ability (100%).
- Optimakina: +10% chance on target generation.
Only one makina per breeding. The makina’s generation must be at least equal to the breeding’s target generation. Special abilities are not obtained naturally: they come exclusively from Makinas (no ability inheritance).
Animakina probabilities
| Ability | Probability |
|---|---|
| Amoureuse | 27% |
| Endurante | 27% |
| Précoce | 27% |
| Sage | 14% |
| Reproducteur | 5% |
Note: Reproducteur also works on a male parent, but two Reproducteur parents only add one extra baby total.
VIII. Breeding rewards & bonuses
Mount extraction
The extraction tab lets you convert a mount into resources: Dragoturkey → neuron, Muldo → amber, Volkorne → horn.
- Standard gain: 1 resource per generation (e.g. Muldo generation 5 = 5 ambers).
- Generation 1 mounts: not extractable.
- Senile mounts: extraction limited to 1 resource, regardless of generation.
Génétons
Génétons are account-bound and obtained from breeding when the baby exceeds the highest generation present in the parental trees.
They can be exchanged at Eugène Éton in [-18,1] (stat scrolls, tourmalines, alitons).
IX. Achievements & tips to get started with breeding
Capture goals
- Capture 5 Muldos, 4 Volkornes and 3 Dragoturkeys.
Birth goals
- Progress up to 1,000 mount births.
Generation goals
Obtain births of all mounts from generation 2 to 10 (Dragoturkeys, Muldos, Volkornes).
Génétons (progression tokens)
Génétons are earned when a breeding pushes the genealogy beyond generations already present in the parental trees.
| Parent generation | Génétons earned |
|---|---|
| Génération 1 | 1 x Généton |
| Génération 2 | 2 x Généton |
| Génération 3 | 4 x Généton |
| Génération 4 | 8 x Généton |
| Génération 5 | 15 x Généton |
| Génération 6 | 30 x Généton |
| Génération 7 | 60 x Généton |
| Génération 8 | 120 x Généton |
| Génération 9 | 250 x Généton |
The total earned per breeding adds both parents’ values if conditions are met (e.g. parent gen9 + parent gen1 = 251).
Starter tips (field summary)
- Capture as many mounts as possible: your breeding stock doesn’t replenish itself naturally.
- Optimize prospecting during captures to secure net/makina resources.
- Level up the profession fast to reach 4 paddocks (level 120) then 6 paddocks.
- Sort by serenity first before placing mounts in paddocks.
- Monitor baffeur/caresseur paddocks to prevent serenity drifting to ±5,000.
- Activate the feeding trough as soon as a second gauge slot is free.
Almanax breeding bonuses

X. Hub to family guides
This profession guide covers cross-family mechanics. Detailed recipes per generation and full family trees are available in the three dedicated guides:
XI. Field protocol appendices
This appendix gives you an ultra-practical framework: action sequences, before/after checks, thresholds to verify, and execution orders to avoid wasting time and fuel.
XI.A Quick capture protocol (short session)
- Check your net stock (universal, multiplicateur, renforcé, multiplicateur renforcé).
- Choose the zone based on the target family (Dragoturkey / Muldo / Volkorne).
- Set up a dedicated combat bar with the taming spell visible.
- Start the fight on a dense pack to maximize the AoE net (radius 3).
- Apply the capture state at the best timing (before securing the fight).
- Finish cleanly without losing marked targets.
- Sort captured mounts immediately (gender / type / goal).
XI.B Paddock protocol (rotation standard)
Goal: avoid half-empty paddocks and keep active gauges running on mounts that actually match the current serenity range.
| Step | Action | Quick check | Risk if ignored |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Choose 2 active gauges | Compatible with batch serenity | Wasted fuel |
| 2 | Fill gauge to the right tier | Short / long term goal | Unnecessary overspend |
| 3 | Fill paddock to 10 mounts | No empty slots | Halved efficiency |
| 4 | Check serenity drift | Range -5000 to 5000 | Gauge lockout |
| 5 | Switch to feeding trough | When breeding gauges are stable | Delayed XP |
XI.C Breeding protocol / clonage / extraction
- Breeding: go through the stable only, then validate fertility + type + opposite genders.
- Makina: decide based on goal (ability or target generation).
- Cloning: reserve for useful bloodlines after parental sterilization.
- Extraction: only on non-strategic sterile stock.
XII. Breeding decision matrices
XII.A Makina choice by goal
| Goal | Recommended Makina | When to use | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lock in target generation | Optimakina | Key crossbreeds / high generations | +10% target generation |
| Get Caméléone | Kromakina | Showcase mount / market value | Caméléone 100% |
| Look for utility ability | Animakina | Internal breeding mount | Random abilities |
XII.B Decision: XP parent or breed right away?
| Context | Priority action | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Low generations | Breed fast | Volume compensates for lower % |
| High generations | XP parent + Optimakina | Reduces costly failures |
| Tight fuel stock | Limit long XP sessions | Preserve immediate profitability |
| Urgent achievement goal | Breed at pace | Faster validation |
XIII. Detailed simulations (practical cases)
The cases below serve as field decision-making references. They follow the rules described in this guide without introducing external mechanics.
Case 1 — Parent 1 level 1, parent 2 level 1, no Optimakina
- Generation chance: 30% + (1×0.15%) + (1×0.15%) = 30.30%.
- Yew 2 target outcomes equally split: 15.15% per outcome.
Case 2 — Parent 1 level 200, parent 2 level 1, with Optimakina
- Level bonus: 30.15%.
- Generation chance: 30% + 30.15% + 10% = 70.15%.
Case 3 — Two level 200 parents, with Optimakina
- Level bonus: 60%.
- Generation chance: 30% + 60% + 10% = 100% (max cap).
Case 4 — Fuel optimization over a full cycle
- Full gauge: 100,000.
- Total drain time: 17h48 (11h06 + 4h09 + 1h51 + 42min).
- Always fill to 10 mounts to maintain efficiency.
Case 5 — Reproducteur in a short bloodline
- Potential gain: 1 extra baby per breeding.
- Limitation: two Reproducteur parents don’t add two bonus babies.
XIV. Ready-to-use checklists
Daily checklist (morning / noon / evening)
- ☐ Sort by serenity before placing anything in paddocks.
- ☐ Check active gauges and whether they’re actually useful.
- ☐ Check incomplete paddocks (target: 10 mounts).
- ☐ Pull out mounts ready to breed.
- ☐ Launch priority breedings.
- ☐ Place new babies back into the progression flow.
- ☐ Fix serenity drifts at end of session.
Weekly checklist
- ☐ Fuel audit: extracts / philtres / potions / elixirs.
- ☐ Net audit: universal / multiplicateur / renforcé.
- ☐ Bloodline audit: key parents to keep / clone / extract.
- ☐ Monthly Almanax planning (breeding dates).
Critical mistakes to avoid checklist
- ☐ Running gauges incompatible with the batch’s serenity.
- ☐ Leaving empty slots in a paddock while the gauge is running.
- ☐ Breeding outside of generation/ability goals.
- ☐ Extracting a mount still useful to your genealogy.
- ☐ Forgetting Optimakina on high-stakes crossbreeds.
Progression pack: Leveling Breeder from 1 to 200
Example: For level 1, you need 26 crafts. Since a net requires 10 wood and 10 iron, that’s 260 of each resource. For the rest, recipes are 1-to-1, so 128 crafts = 128 of each resource.

XVIII. Advanced breeder profession FAQ Dofus
Q1 : Is a level 200 mount mandatory to progress?
R1 : No, but it strongly increases target generation probability through the level bonus.
Q2 : When should I prioritize Optimakina?
R2 : On high-stakes breedings (high generations, achievement goals, expensive bloodlines).
Q3 : Is cloning worth it early in progression?
R3 : Situationally; it becomes key once a bloodline is worth more than a raw capture.
Q4 : Can you breed efficiently with limited playtime?
R4 : Yes, with short but strict sessions: serenity sorting, full paddocks, fixed daily goals.
Q5 : What’s the #1 fuel trap?
R5 : Running a gauge on too few compatible mounts, which destroys yield.
Q6 : Are abilities transmitted naturally?
R6 : No, they’re controlled via Makinas according to the rules described in this guide.
Q7 : Why do my generation results vary despite the same formula?
R7 : Genealogy and the distribution of target outcomes modulate the final probabilities.
Q8 : What routine should I follow to stabilize my gains?
R8 : Regular captures + optimized paddocks + XP/breeding trade-offs + Almanax date tracking.
Pro tips (mode planificateur journalier)
| Session | Mandatory routine | Fuel alert | Breeding quota |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morning | Sort by serenity, pull out fertile mounts, restart full paddocks (10 mounts). | T4 empties in 42 min: refuel before it runs out. | Prepare the number of usable pairs. |
| Noon | Main breedings, put new mounts back into the cycle. | Reminder: ticks every 10s (10 / 20 / 30 / 40). | 1 pair = 1 baby (2 if Reproducteur). |
| Evening | Fix serenity extremes, level up via feeding trough XP, prep tomorrow’s batch. | Gauge cost is the same with 1 or 10 mounts: avoid partially empty paddocks. | Close out remaining pairs without needlessly draining top tiers. |
Real experience report (Eleveur)
Server week from March 17 to 23, 2026 : for me, breeding generated a margin between 520 000 et 1 240 000 kamas depending on fertility rate and sorting quality.
What didn't work for me : leaving partially empty paddocks with active fuel. The cost stayed the same but the yield dropped.
What worked for me : filling each cycle to 10 mounts, setting a breeding quota per session, then balancing XP/breeding based on target generation.
Overall analysis
Breeding is a process-driven profession: proper mount sorting, precise gauge tier management, and target generation optimization through levels and Makinas. The key numbers (100,000, 10-second ticks, 17h48, 30% + 0.15%/level + 10%) let you turn what feels like a random activity into a predictable routine. By working with full paddocks, regular sessions, and generation goals, long-term progression becomes much more stable.
