Description

Legend has it that the Kinryu was once the spirit of a golden-scaled carp, living in a spring of the utmost purity. Many Pandalans came to seek the wisdom of the spirit of the spring, who in turn asked them questions about the world he could not see from his watery prison. When the dragon of Pandala looked into the spring one day, he was struck by the spirit's love for Pandala and its people, but also by the spirit's sorrow at the prospect of ending his days in the spring. Thus, the dragon gave the spirit a new form in his own image so that the spirit could roam the world. Ever since, the Kinryu has been a symbol of wisdom, happiness and prosperity for the people of the island, and it is said that every 12 years, he can be seen flying over the island to show how joyful he is.
